Spring (Almost)

The snow has finally melted and people are coming out of hibernation.  That means that the Ottawa-Gatinea area festival season (April through September) is gearing up for lots of fun events.

To kick things off we have Sparks Street Poutine Fest and Ottawa Grassroots Festival happening.  And where was I this weekend?  I went and saw a Canadian Jazz Pianist Icon last night at the NAC (part of the NAC Presents series),  Oliver Jones.  An amazing show by an amazing talent.  It’s hard to believe he turns 80 this year as his fingers literately dance across the keys and make such wonderful sweet music.

For those who haven’t attended any of the NAC Presents concerts that have been held the past 3 years, you’ve missed out on some fantastic Canadian Talent.  While the current season is winding down, don’t dispair.  The announcement for Season four acts will be made on May 6 – less than two weeks from now.  I’m sure the lineup will be excellent and appeal to a diverse taste in music, so watch for the upcoming shows!
