End of November Musical Feast
This past week was quite a musical feast. It started on the 24th at the Brass Monkey with great shows by Mystara, The Fenton Brothers and Honeymoon Suite. The 25th was another flash back to the past with TD Place Arena Rock shows by Trooper and April Wine as part of this years Grey Cup Festival. Sunday was another great show at Atomic Rooster thanks to the Ria Reece Band. Wendesday was a new venue and a new festival for me – le Petit Chicago and the Viree Blues Moosehead who brought Bill Durst back to town for an absolutely amazing show.
One thing I have found over the past few years is that I much prefer more intimate shows. While it is great to see acts that I’ve followed for over 30 years (like April Wine), I have found the more intimate shows a much more enjoyable experience. As a result, it’s no surprise that my favorite acts over the past week were Bill Durst at the very intimate le Petit Chicago and Honeymoon Suite at the Brass Monkey.
I’m not sure what shows I will be seeing this month, as there are quite a few good ones to choose from. I will definately be seeing Angel Forrest at Le Petit Chicago on the 13th and The Split at The Rainbow Bistro on the 29th which will bring this year’s total to 105. If I can motivate myself out of the house, I may also check out Wicked Grin on the 10th, Nile Groove on the 15th and Jesse Greene on the 16th.
