Colin James (and Ribs) #Ottawa
Colin James. Jazz Festival. What a great combination (in my humble opinion). Colin James remains the top Canadian Blues Rock act for a reason. After 25 years and 15 Albums he has a vast repertoire of excellent songs to choose from and on Saturday night he did not disappoint. Backed by a four piece band, he let his guitar and vocals take centre stage with a high energy set that started with I’m Losing You and finished with the captivating Into the Mystic. He is always on my list of artists to see, and on Saturday night he proved to everyone why.
On another note, Ribfest is over for another summer. I managed to try out three different ribbers this year – Boss Hogs, Camp 31 and Silver Bullet. Of the three, I liked Boss Hogs the best (they ended up winning the Peoples choice award). Camp 31 ribs were a little dry (overcooked) and Silver Bullet were a little greasy. I have to admit though, that Silver Bullet had the best beans of the three. The official results were: Best Sauce: 3rd Place, Camp 31. 2nd Place, Ribs Royale. 1st Boss Hogs. Best Chicken: 3rd Place, Texas Rangers. 2nd Place, Camp 31. 1st Place Horn Dawgs. Best Ribs: 3rd Place Camp 31. 2nd Place Horn Dogs and the World Champion for Best Ribs is…. Ribs Royale. I can’t wait for the fall edition!
