2017 Concert Wrapup

Happy New Years everyone! I Wish you a safe, healthy, happy and fulfilling 2018.

Another great year of live music has come to a close with an amazing total of 110 acts thanks to Canada150 festival funding and events along with some great shows in local venues. Out of this total, 46 were Canadian acts and 19 of those came from the Ottawa area.

Local Favorites: Monkeyjunk, Rebecca Noelle, The Peptides

Best Overall Show: P!NK

Best Dance Party: Caravan Palace

Other notables: Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires, Joss Stone, Brandi Carlisle, Melissa Etheridge, The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer

On a bittersweet note, it was sad to hear both Charles Bradley and Tom Petty passed away this year.

2018 is already starting off better than 2017 as I already have tickets to see a dozen shows over the first four months. While I’m hopeful, I suspect the local festivals will have a difficult time putting together a lineup that comes close to matching this year’s bonanza (although some hints from Kemptville are already showing some promise).
